On Birds and Mothering.

Tonight I put the children to bed really early, so early that I shouldn’t even say how early. And, the best part is, they actually fell asleep. Andy is out of town and to be completely honest, I am exhausted. Not the ‘at the end of my rope’ kind of exhausted.. but the ‘should I go to bed at 6:30 too?’ kind of exhausted. I opted to go for a little evening walk instead of pulling up the covers, and I am so glad that I did. I was able to sit without interruption for quite some time while somebody else zoomed around me. I can really relate to that busy bird.
I came inside and looked at what was in the netflix envelope. Aptly, it was the movie I Don’t Know How She Does It. I had to laugh. I’m not saying I am some kind of super hero, not in the least. I have it very good. These are busy times and I am ever grateful for every moment. Especially these last three hours of slow mama time. I know my little ones will be early birds tomorrow, given their early bedtime. I think I will turn in now so I can wake with them and run them down to see the new baby birds.
