Today we stayed home. We read and cooked and did a bit of sewing. We learned about the moon. Hadley can pedal her trike, she is proud.

He asked me to go for a bike ride and then it began to rain. I am so pleased we threw caution to the wind and went. I felt like a good mother.

Today we tucked ourselves in while the rain and thunder surrounded us. The trees spread their green leaves to further hide us from the storm.

Phoebe asked, “are we safe inside when the lightening strikes?”

I said, “yes.”

“even if I keep my eyes open?”

“yes, sweet one.”

I am ever grateful for the freedom in our lives. Today I was able to see my children through the eyes of others. I couldn’t be happier with who they are and of how we are able to live our days together.

I have a new desk. It is actually two nesting desks! I already have big plans for sewing and projects and such. Hadley and I went looking for a stool today, with no success. I still have two more thrift stores to try, so I am hopeful.

Their voices were strong, and they were heard. (and as a funny aside, Hadley has been chanting all day… “60 more ears!” when I corrected her to say years, she said “No, ears Mama!”)

Last night’s rally of over 130 kids and adults proved very effective in convincing the City Commission and Mayor to continue funding for Hickory Hills. According to Mayor Mike Estes, “Funding for Hickory Hills will be there next year.”

YOUR POSTERS WERE BEAUTIFUL AND CLEVER. YOUR WORDS WERE LOUD, STRONG BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY-
YOU WERE HEARD!!

BECAUSE OF YOUR EFFORT LAST NIGHT, HICKORY HILLS WILL REMAIN OPEN FOR ANOTHER YEAR.
