Solstice
This is often my favorite night of the year. I love watching the day slip away into the darkness. We slowly light candles as they are needed and they fill our house with shadows and movement. Everyone was very tired today, we played with friends all morning and then had swimming lessons. Jim worked the children hard today, even timing their laps. He told me he could make a competitive swimmer out of Phoebe, that he would love to work with her more. She has a natural athletic ability, and we have all known that for a very long time. I can imagine she will choose a sport one day and become very competitive, but I dont think we need to focus on any one thing right now, there is plenty of time.
The night tonight was a bit rushed by that unsettled energy of overtired children. Next year I will remember to hold this day more sacred. I hope for it to be a very needed day of calm before the frenzy of Christmas. I might not be back here until after the new year, there is change in store for my little blog, possibly a new name and format. It will be simple and fresh. I will let you know when it is up.
