Pictures from our day

Haddie is a morning person. She always greets us with the biggest smiles when she wakes up,
and she loves to interact and play in the morning. She will typically be awake for about two hours or so before she needs a morning nap. Here we are playing with her once we are all up and dressed. She is taking after her sister a bit in that she is always moving… Hmmm.

Here Drew is showing us the secret suprise every apple has. It was a good way to begin our day on the number five. Yesterday we read a native american story about stars. Today we talked (and drew pictures) of things that signify the number five. Five fingers, five toes, five points on a star, five people in our family.

And then we were off to see a one man show downtown. The kids said they liked it, but I was not so impressed. He acted out a few fables… But first he felt the need to describe everything in great detail… It did not allow us to really sink into the experience of the story. It all felt very disjointed to me.

And here we can end with another picture of our sweet little one. Yes, she is growing up much too fast. Look at that head control! It seems like she is about to just crawl away. Oh my, won’t that be fun when she is on the move!

Drew

I think it is time to focus on Drew for a post. Drew had a big day today. And the funny thing is — that is exactly what he told his dad tonight. Drew has been speaking in the third person lately. And it is hilarious and a just wee bit confusing too.
Today we took our morning walk and he said something that struck me as a little wise for his age
“Drew can’t change his mind once he’s jumped”
Nope. That is true on many different levels.

Then after a little jumping he said “it’s time to write a few notes” and he pulled out a pen and his little notebook. I had no idea that he had brought it.

He asked me how to write this and I told him all the letters. And he had a big moment. After writing the word we– and then the first two letters of went he all of a sudden understood how letters have a sound associated with them. It is a simple concept, and one we have mentioned to him before. But today it really clicked, and he got it. Then when we got home he wanted to look at his word box … And he was able to figure out a few of the words by sounding out some of the letters (and some he just recognized as sight words) but then I wrote down a few simple words and he was able to read them. Dog, frog, bat, and up.

Oh. My little boy is starting to read. I am blessed to be able to watch him in his discovery.

Technical support

For the last two days I have been having some difficulties with posting to the blog. So, I had to get my technical support team (aka Andy) to help me a bit. He got into the typepad system and solved all the problems (pretty quickly I might add). But when he handed my computer back to me I decided to play around a bit… once again. And I am pretty proud of myself. I switched up the books on the side, and I added a search feature. So, since I have quite a few posts now, if you ever want to look up an older post just put a word or two that describes the entry into the search and it should pop up for you. Pretty neat.
Now I am hoping to make a custom picture for the top of the blog… I am getting a little bored with the pre-made typepad options. But I will need the help of my support team once again.
Having Andy help me on the computer brings me back in time a bit. When Andy and I met he was working part time at the Montana State computer lab. And even though he was not a computer science major he could always figure things out so well. He was patient and encouraging and I have never once felt inferior by the kind way he would show me how to do things. — well recently there was an episode of picture loading– but I deserved it — I dont know where my brain was that day (kind of like the island question– if you have ever heard that super smart question I once asked).
So anyway. I think in between all the rambling I am trying to say I am so thankful for my wonderful husband. Like today when Haddie was power nursing (literally all day!) and he made lunch and dinner and did the dishes. Like yesterday when he helped me clean the house by scrubbing the floors. And like right now as he makes a fire to warm us all up.

I am so grateful for all my technical support.

Walk softly

And carry a big stick.

It was beautiful today. 65, partly sunny and no wind. We took a walk at an old abandoned golf course. We had a very nice time

Look at this dreamy little girl.

Girls night out

Tonight I snuck away for a night out with my people. It is alway so great to connect with wonderful mamas, and get a little knitting done as well. We all brought our babies, and maybe they too were excited to be with their people, sweet babies that they are.

Family

We had a wonderful visit from my dad and step mom. We ate good food, swam at the park place, saw a 3D movie (which Drew is still amazed by) and just had a nice time hanging out. Thanks for coming guys!
